Sporting Schools Program

Sporting Schools is an Australian Government initiative that helps schools increase children’s participation in sport and connect them with community sporting opportunities. Diving is a recognised provider in this program, giving schools the opportunity to access our sport through grant funding. School Diving Program

Introducing Students to the Sport of Diving

Our School Program gives students a fun and engaging introduction to diving through dryland activities delivered at your school and/or a visit to our training facility at HPC Mt Claremont for an in water experience . The aim is to spark interest in a unique Olympic sport while supporting students’ physical development, confidence, and enjoyment of movement.

What’s Involved?

A one to two-day visit to your school, depending on the number of classes.
Targeted at Years 2 to 6, though we’re happy to include other year groups if space and time allow.
A short and engaging introduction to the sport of diving at the start of each session.
Activities are delivered in a circuit format and include basic physical skills such as jumping, balance, flexibility, coordination, and body control — all on dry land.

Each session is:

1 hour long (for up to 35 students)
Run by qualified and experienced diving coaches
Completely self managed (no teacher involvement required)

Program Outcomes

All students receive a certificate of participation and an invitation to come and try diving at our training centre.
Students gain confidence and learn about a sport they may not have experienced before.
Schools can support physical literacy outcomes in a safe, fun, and inclusive setting.

Location and Timing

Sessions are delivered on-site at your school (hall, gym, or large classroom).
We work with you to align sessions with your school timetable, often during PE classes.

Cost

Participation in the school-based program is completely free for schools.

Optional HPC Diving Experience

We also offer schools the option to visit our training facility at HPC Mt Claremont for an exciting, hands-on diving experience. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to put their new skills to the test on real diving boards.
