(MPIO)
What is an MPIO?
A Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO) is a designated person within a Diving club, National Sporting Organisation (NSO), or at events who provides information and guidance to individuals with concerns or complaints. They act as a neutral resource, separate from complaint investigations or mediations.
What do MPIOs do?
- Provide information about member rights, responsibilities, and available options.
- Guide individuals through the appropriate channels for raising concerns or filing complaints.
- Increase awareness of policies related to member protection, safeguarding children, and preventing harassment and discrimination.
Why are MPIOs important for diving ?
MPIOs play a crucial role in fostering a safe, fair, and inclusive environment within diving. By ensuring everyone understands their rights and responsibilities, MPIOs contribute to the implementation of effective member protection policies.
