Diving WA Welcomes Jodie Spirek and Dr Eliza Cole to the Board

Diving Western Australia is pleased to announce the appointments of Jodie Spirek and Dr Eliza Cole to its Board of Directors. Both bring a wealth of experience and leadership that will further strengthen the organisation’s governance and strategic direction.

Jodie Spirek

Jodie Spirek brings over 20 years of experience in event management, marketing, and stakeholder engagement across sport, tourism, and community sectors. She has played key roles in delivering major national and international events including the Whitbread Round the World Race, Triathlon World Championships, Hopman Cup, Rally Australia, and the Perth Royal Show.

With a strong background in governance, strategic planning, and operational leadership, Jodie has managed complex projects, large teams, and multi-million-dollar budgets. Passionate about sport and community development, she is committed to strengthening participation pathways and supporting Diving WA’s continued growth and success.

Executive Officer Sean Andrews said Jodie’s appointment adds valuable expertise to the Board:
“Jodie brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to our Board. Her leadership in event management and stakeholder engagement will be invaluable as we continue to grow participation, strengthen partnerships, and deliver a world-class experience for the diving community.”

Dr Eliza Cole

Dr Eliza Cole is a Diving WA Life Member and a long-standing contributor to the sport at every level. She has been involved in diving for more than 28 years, having competed at Age, Junior, Open, and Masters levels, and is the current World Masters Champion in her age group.

Eliza has served Diving WA for 13 years as the State Technical Officials Coordinator, and for six years on the National Technical Officials Committee, reporting to Diving Australia’s CEO. She is a Level 6 International Judge, representing Australia at World Cup level, and a Level 2 Diving Coach, having helped establish the successful Adults & Teens Diving Program.

Professionally, Eliza is a Specialist General Practitioner and currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer in the energy sector. She previously supported the Diving WA Board in strategic planning and spent the past year serving as a casual Board member before her formal appointment.

Her deep knowledge of Diving WA’s history, community, and pathways, together with her professional expertise in health and leadership make her an invaluable addition to the Board.

Sean Andrews welcomed Eliza’s continued involvement:
“Eliza’s passion for diving, her experience as an athlete, coach, official, and administrator, and her professional perspective in medical leadership adds great depth to our Board discussions and decisions.”

Diving WA warmly welcomes both Jodie Spirek and Dr Eliza Cole to the Board and looks forward to the insight, experience, and passion they will bring to the organisation’s ongoing growth and success.
