Vale Bruce Prance

It is with great sadness that we inform members of the news that Diving great, Bruce Prance OAM passed away last night on Wednesday 27th November.

Bruce’s involvement in Diving, both in WA and Nationally has spanned more than 70 years and his contribution and passion for the sport will be missed and forever remembered.

As a diver, coach, official, administrator and volunteer, Bruce has left a lasting legacy in the sport of Diving.

Highlights include:

  • Forming the Western Australian Amateur Diving Association in 1957;
  • Pioneered dryland training through the early 1960’s;
  • Australian Diving Coach at the 1964 Tokyo and 1988 Seoul Olympics;
  • Inaugural AIS Diving Coach 1984;
  • Diving Australia President 19841986;
  • Life Member of Diving Western Australia and Diving Australia;
  • Inaugural winner of the Olympians Club of WA Outstanding Contribution Award 2012;
  • RAC WA Sports Star Awards – RAC Insurance Service to Sport Award 2016; and
  • Awarded OAM for service to the sport of diving in 2019.

Our sincere condolences to Runelle and the Prance family at this most difficult time.
