Diving Western Australia has announced the appointment of Whitney Michael as its new full-time Executive Officer.
Whitney has served as Acting Executive Officer for the past three months, providing operational leadership and supporting the organisation's strategic priorities during the transition period.
Her appointment follows an extensive career in diving spanning nearly five decades. Beginning as a competitive diver in the United States, Whitney was a nine-time Junior National qualifier, seven-time Senior National qualifier, and competed for the University of Michigan under renowned Olympic coach Dick Kimball.
She later built an impressive career as a coach, official, event manager, and sport administrator. Whitney spent more than ten years with Diving Victoria coordinating participation programs and managing competitions, while continuing to coach and officiate at state, national, and international levels.
A Level 2 Diving Coach and Level 5 Diving Official, Whitney currently serves as a Technical Leader on the Diving Australia Technical Committee and as Co-State Technical Officiating Coordinator for Diving Western Australia. Her contributions to the sport extend beyond coaching and officiating, having represented Australia as a technical official at the Dresden International Youth Diving Competition and serving as a Diving Australia chaperone on multiple international tours, camps, and national team programs.
Diving WA Chairperson welcomed the appointment, highlighting Whitney's unique combination of sport knowledge, organisational experience, and passion for athlete development.
Whitney said she was honoured by the opportunity and looked forward to continuing to serve the diving community while supporting the growth and success of Diving Western Australia.
